Heads Up Pittsburgh
Heads UP Pittsburgh is a partnership between UPMC Sports Medicine and the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation. This innovative concussion awareness and baseline testing initiative is free for young athletes throughout Western Pennsylvania.
This is a wonderful service and resource for any child in any sport or activity and is offered for kids as young as 5 and up.
Hi everyone! My name is Abby Waine and I am the new head coach of the Mt. Lebanon Blue Devils Rugby Team.
I fell in love with rugby in 2015 and have been playing ever since. I currently play for the Pittsburgh Forge Rugby Club and have been since 2019. Before that I played for Slippery Rock University (SRU) Women’s Rugby Club from 2015-2018 and for the ARU Select Sides for various tours/games from 2017-2019. I was also Captain and Vice President for SRU’s women’s rugby club for the 2017 to 2018 season.
I joined the Blue Devils Rugby Team in 2025 as an Assistant Coach and have enjoyed working with the girls and my fellow coaches. With this new opportunity, I am excited to continue to build on this team‘s foundation and grow their rugby skills and knowledge to new heights.

Rugby culture is very unique since it truly is more than a sport and emphasizes togetherness and community. It is also a way of seeing your place not just on the field but in the world! The universally accepted values of rugby are integrity, passion, solidarity, discipline, and respect.

WE WANT YOU! We are one of the few sports that do not require a tryout nor experience with the sport. We already have a season of practice and games lined up and ready to go! Feel free to check out the season schedule and mark up your calendars. Come ready for a great time to meet new people and enjoy the wonderful game of rugby.
